How Democrats Can Win Back the House AND Senate
It's STILL the Economy, Stupid!
Donald Trump and the Republican Party are handing Democrats the kind of opportunity for a blue tidal wave in November that is the stuff dreams are made of. But the billion-dollar question is, Can they successfully seize this massive opportunity or will they snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
And will this November midterm dream materialize or will it be a colossal nightmare? There’s a way to ensure that Democrats take back not only the House, but the Senate as well, which the odds-makers now say is a 50/50 shot.
In order to win the Senate Democrats need to flip Maine, North Carolina, Ohio and Alaska, all of which is within realistic reach. Other possible pick-ups are Iowa and Texas.
So how can they do it? How can they convince not just Democrats but disaffected moderate Republican and independent voters to vote blue as well?
Every Democratic candidate should adopt some version of the following message:
“I don’t care if you’re Republican, Democrat or independent. Because your economic struggles and concerns are not political. They’re real life. So what I DO care about is that you’re being slammed by $4/gallon gas…by rising inflation…by grocery prices that keep going up…by a housing affordability crisis…by shitty healthcare which costs WAY too much…by an economy that benefits billionaires and the rich while pummeling YOU and YOUR family…and by an endless amount of unnecessary military actions and wars which take money, YOUR money, our TAXPAYER money, and sends it overseas instead of using it to better our lives here at home. That’s why I’m running, and that’s why I’m asking for your vote. Because together we can fix this awful economy and level the playing field for the working and middle class of America”.
Pretty simple, right? No Trump-bashing, no partisan rhetoric, just a straight-as-fuck empathetic Clintonian “I feel your pain” acknowledgement that average Americans are desperately fighting to pay their bills, feed their kids, get affordable healthcare and housing, and maybe, just maybe, save a few bucks for a rainy day. And with a promise to focus like a laser on these problems.
And then press repeat. And say it over and over and over again. And then say it again.
James Carville said it best decades ago and it’s never been truer and more critically important: “It’s the economy, stupid”.
Democrats, if they’re smart, will take a page out of the Republican playbook and march in lockstep on this simple yet highly effective message.

Let me tell you something. When the Democrats win the house and the senate you will see Champagne popped all across America.
