The "I Alone" President Created a Debacle of his Own Doing
It’s now 4 1/2 months since an ignorant, impulsive, incompetent Donald Trump decided on his own to invade Iran.
He did so without congressional authorization.
Without UN Security Council approval.
Without discussion, cooperation and coordination with our allies.
He did so without justification, a coherent war plan, or an exit strategy. And now it’s a fucking disaster. Perhaps the worst military debacle in US history.
And we have the thoroughly useless thruple of Pete Hegseth, who’s in charge of prosecuting the war, and the prodigal son-in-law Jared Kushner and trusted real estate pal Steve Witkoff, who are leading the negotiations to end the war.
So with that woefully unqualified gang, what could possibly have gone wrong?!
Earlier this week, following renewed Iranian strikes on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a very frustrated Failure-in-Chief threw his hands in the air and declared that the ceasefire “is over”. That fighting has resumed. That the war rages on.
This after he, Hegseth, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have been insisting for months that “the war is over”, “we’ve won”, and that we’ve “obliterated their military”.
None of which, obviously, is true.
An angry Trump called Iranian’s leadership “scum”, “evil”, “sick people” and “liars”.
But just a month ago, after the ceasefire signing, he called them "rational," "strong," and "nice people to deal with."
The genius who’s been yammering about how horrible Iran has been for the past 47 years seemed shocked and dismayed at…how horrible Iran is.
What it boils down to is this: Trump is incredibly frustrated that he wasn’t able to waltz into Iran the way he did Venezuela with a quick 24 hour ‘victory’. And by victory, I’m being generous, because I’m not convinced anything has fundamentally changed in terms of how Venezuela is being governed and how its citizens are being treated.
Venezuela was a show. By a showman. But with Iran, this time the showman fucked up and produced a shitshow.
There have been reports for several weeks now that Trump is bored, angry and desperately wants out of his Iran debacle. And he even suggested this week that he’s now open to ending the war even without a deal.
And that would be so Trumpian. Create a fucking mess, and then just walk away leaving it for others to clean up.
