WTF is Going on with Marjorie Taylor Greene?!
Whatever it is, I LIKE it...
So Republicans and Democrats alike are wondering, just what the heck is going on with Marjorie Taylor Greene?! Because lately she’s been sounding more like the Southern AOC than the Patron Saint of MAGA.
And now she’s become embroiled in a very public, very nasty feud with Donald Trump, who’s called her a “traitor”.
Man, if he can turn on Marjorie Taylor Greene then not even Melania’s safe!
Over the past couple of months, Greene has openly broken with Trump on a range of issues including the the shutdown, the economy, inflation and affordability, healthcare, Israel, the Iran bombing, and her unwavering calls for the release of the full Epstein files.
Trump clearly feels betrayed by Greene, formerly one of his most fierce, loyal supporters. And so he’s withdrawn his support of her, his endorsements, and he’s resorted to his classic playbook of attacking her with juvenile nicknames and vitriolic personal attacks.
He’s called her “Marjorie Traitor Greene”, “Marjorie Taylor Brown” (“Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!”) and “Wacky Marjorie”.
He’s also called her a “ranting lunatic”, “lightweight Congresswoman”, and “fake politician” who’s “lost her way”.
“I haven’t lost my way”, Greene fired back, choosing to take the high road by not attacking Trump personally. “I’m 100 percent America First and only!”
Greene has been impressively standing her ground against the most powerful human on Earth, and one who she knows very well has destroyed many an enemy before her. But she may be onto something. Because, to borrow from Bob Dylan, ‘She don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows’.
Trump may be utterly tone deaf when he says “I don’t want to hear about the affordability”.
He may think he can gaslight the base when he tells them, ‘Who are you gonna believe, me or your lying grocery bills?’
He may have thought his base wouldn’t notice his lavish Great Gatsby-themed Mar-a-Lago parties or his $300 million ballroom project as they struggled to feed their kids in the absence of SNAP benefits.
He may think he can lie his way through a struggling economy, rising inflation, rising unemployment, stalled job growth, and cuts in critical government services.
He may think he can yammer on endlessly about being “America first”, but that the base won’t notice when he focuses his attention almost exclusively on foreign affairs, $40 billion bailouts to Argentina, and threats to invade Venezuela and Nigeria.
He may think voters don’t care about his autocratic overreach in putting masked, unidentified federal agents on American streets to aggressively and violently round up hard-working undocumented immigrants and those protesting this harsh and unconstitutional treatment.
He may think he can convince the base, after years of promising to release the Epstein files and bring down the ‘deep state pedophiles’, that it’s actually just a “Democrat hoax”.
He may be in denial about the “tremendous success we’re having as a party“ just two weeks after a humiliating blue wave election as he stares at his abysmal 36% approval rating.
But Marjorie Taylor Greene knows better. She’s an incredibly astute, calculating politician who has ascended to one of the most powerful perches in Republican politics. She didn’t get there by being a dummy. She didn’t get there by being tone deaf. She didn’t get there by being in denial.
And I think she sees the future. She knows that Trump‘s house of cards may be crumbling, and that therefore MAGA may be breaking as well. And she’s attempting to get on the right side of history.
It would be foolish to expect MAGA to die overnight. It’s going to take time to break this 10-year-old fever. But the way it will ultimately break is if one by one, those like Greene, who helped Trump spew the toxic MAGA rhetoric that has divided the country, wake up and say ‘enough!’
As such, Greene went on CNN with Dana Bash Sunday and admitted that she is partly responsible for the dangerous, overheated political climate that’s resulted in the type of threats she’s now receiving after being called a traitor by Trump. She apologized for her past behavior and unequivocally accepted her share of the blame.
She’s promised to do better in the future. That’s all we can ask. And she deserves our support right now, just like we’ve been supporting Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and the many other Republicans who have defected because they can no longer support Trump’s draconian policies.
Now is not the time to rehash and re-litigate Greene’s past indiscretions. It doesn’t matter anymore. Because if we truly believe that Donald Trump is not upholding the rule of law, violating that law, and is actively working to destroy our democracy, then she has joined the resistance movement on some meaningful level and we should welcome her.
Now if in a week Greene and Trump have kissed and made up and she’s back aboard the Trump train, then I supposed her liberal fans will go back to hating her. But she deserves our support until she demonstrates otherwise.
...

i’m not allowing her to be rehabbed until she earns it like cheney and kinzinger. she can have the benefit of the doubt until i see otherwise. if she earns redemption, so be it. that’s the way it should work.
big talk is just talk unless you’re backing it up.
TBD!
